In any busy auto shop, old oil filters can pile up on you in a hurry and become a disposal nightmare. An oil filter crusher can save you time and money by reducing them down to manageable size and helping you to dispose of them legally and properly. If the EPA investigates and find you are not

Used oil filters are filled with old oil and sludge and are classified as hazardous waste by the EPA. The used oil is trapped in the filter with an anti-backflow valve that prevents the oil from flowing out. So trying to shake the old oil out or letting sit upside down on a drain will not do you any good.
