Although it is the engine which provides power to a car, the transmission block is the component that controls that power and turns it into movement.   The stresses and strains that are put on a transmission system by the engine and drive-train of a modern care are colossal, and ensuring that the system is fully maintained in the best possible condition is essential for anyone who wants to enjoy many years of trouble free motoring from their auto.  Keeping the transmission clean and in fantastic condition is made easier through the use of transmission flush machines.

In order to work efficiently, a transmission, or gearbox requires plenty of lubricant.  This eases the movement of the various gears and shafts through the box, and prevents sticking, however, over time; the quality of the lubricant degrades due to heat, pressures, and contamination.  Inevitably small pieces of gear cogs and other foreign bodies wear off their component, and find themselves in the oil that greases the wheels of the transmission.  From time to time, as part of the regular process of maintenance that a vehicle needs to undergo in order to stay on the road, transmission flush machines must be used in order to completely remove the old oil and any contamination from the system in order to allow for a refill of new, clean oil for lubrication.

Regular oil changes, and checks on the condition of the transmission fluid during routine servicing will give the mechanic the best indication of when a system needs to be fully cleaned out using a transmission flush machine.  Usually if the transmission fluid has gone milky, or black rather than its usual clear red color, it means that it has become contaminated.  Contamination with water can lead to corrosion within the transmission, which will lead to costly repair, while loose particles and dust may abrade components, and cause even more damage.

The actual process of flushing out the gearbox requires a high pressure jet of liquid. This ensures that none of the old transmission fluid remains in the system where it can contaminate the new fluid, and makes sure that any loose objects and foreign bodies are removed.

Transmission flush machines are specially designed to work with almost all auto gearbox systems, and are resilient enough for every day usage in a busy workshop.  Prices range from less than $4,000 up to nearly $8,000 depending on which specific model is chosen, but aside from additional functionality, the basic machines remain the same.

An entry level models such as  RTI Automatic transmission fluid change machines, which are available to buy from under $4,000 performs the whole job, from draining out the transmission through flushing it completely through to filling up with new fluid.  It is a completely automated process once started, and simply requires the push of a button to begin things.

At the high end of the transmission flush machine market are products like the Solar TT500, which is highly advanced in terms of its capabilities, and performs the whole process of transmission fluid replacement from start to finish.  Where the TT500 - which usually costs just under $8,000 but is available on special offer for around $5,269 at the time of writing – differs from any other rival product is that it uses the car’s own transmission system to control the refill process.  This means that the volume of fluid and the pressure it is pushed into the system at are always precisely right, no matter what the make and model of car you are working on.

Because transmission flush machines are the only tool capable of properly carrying out this complex procedure to a standard that will benefit the car, they are an essential part of any workshop.  Choosing the right one for you can be difficult bearing in mind the similarity between the functionality, but thanks to its high quality construction, ease of use, and of course the substantial discount that is currently being offered, the Solar TT500 is probably the best choice for anyone looking to invest in a high quality tool at the moment.
