The Miller Company of Wisconsin has been established for nearly 80 years, and in that time, has grown from its humble beginnings as a tiny one man operation that sold welding equipment and cutting gear into one of the largest and most important producers and sellers of all kinds of cutting equipment around the world, including their impressive lines of Miller Plasma Cutter tools.

One of the core beliefs of the Miller Tool manufacturing company has always been that providing the best possible equipment, such as their state of the art range of Miller Plasma Cutters, requires a great deal of constant investment in all aspects of the research and development process.  The company understands that as time passes, products need to evolve in order to meet the increased demands made upon them by professionals all over the world.  Whether it be the research that the business undertakes to find more ergonomic solutions to handling the Miller plasma cutter in use, or finding the optimum gas and air mixes for their range of welding gear, Miller is constantly driving progress within their industry, and their tools are always improving at an incredible pace.

Miller has always been a great innovator in the world of cutting and welding tools, and was the first business to introduce an AC powered high frequency welder in the 1930s.  This innovation and focus on constant improvement that the company has always strived for has underpinned its growth into one of the largest tool makers in the world, and a famous name in most workshops.

Aside from the extensive range of TIG welders and MIG welders that Miller produces, the company is also well known as a major producer of high quality Miller Plasma Cutters, and these have been one of the latest innovations that the company has produced.  In simple terms, a Miller Plasma Cutter operates by using a jet of compressed air that is turned into a plasma with the application of a very high current of electricity.  The compressed air produces a very hot ionized stream of gas, and this is hot enough to cut through metal.  The advantage of the fast moving air that forms the plasma is that it is both hot enough to cut the metal, and also fast enough to blow the molten metal away from the cut.  This creates an excellent finish.

There are a number of Miller Plasma Cutters that have been designed for slightly different purposes, and range in quality from basic home use machines for keen hobbyists and people who need an occasional torch for light cutting and welding through to busy professional mechanics and metal workers who rely on the tool on a daily basis.  Thanks to the range of plasma cutters from Miller, you can choose exactly the right unit for your needs, and get access to a tool that meets your budget as well as all of your other requirements.

The entry level model in the Miller Plasma Cutter Range is the Spectrum 125C.  This requires a 2.5KW generator to power its plasma, and is rated to cut through 1/8” of mild steel or 1/16” of aluminum at a rate of 10” per minute.  Using the tool is simple thanks to its easy set up, and reliability.

If more power is required, then the big brother Spectrum 375 offers the ability to deal with sheet steel up to 3/8” thick, and needs 4KW to generate its plasma field for cutting.  There are a number of extremely heavy duty Miller plasma cutters at the top of the range offered by the company, and these have been designed with the industrial level user in mind.  Requiring access to a 20,000KW power source, high power tools such as the Miller Spectrum 1251 will allow users to cut through stainless steel up to one and a quarter inches thick with ease, and ensure that they are able to get the job done properly.

Whichever Miller Plasma cutter you choose, you will need to ensure that you have the power capacity to give you the best possible performance, and allow you to get the most out of one of the best tools on the market.
