For decades, flashlights have been one of the most useful tools for mechanics, carpenters, rescue workers, and fire fighters. A flashlight is an essential must-have tool in your garage or in your car. The LED light is the latest advancement to this time tested device. A flashlight is not only useful but it is also practical- it is compact, handy and best of all very user-friendly. Even a 7-year old can toggle a flashlight without any help from an adult. But not all of them are created equal. The LED flashlight has quickly proven itself to be the better choice.

How about making the conventional incandescent light bulb flashlights into something new?  The incandescent bulb has been with us for at least a century and the LED light is almost 50 years old.  However, it was only until relatively recently that LED bulbs could produce a white light. After this advancement, the LED flashlight market exploded. Today, there are several hand-held portable light manufacturers that produce Light Emitting Diode flashlights. These upgraded versions of the classic flashlight have quickly become the choice of professional fire fighters and rescue workers around the globe.

Below are some of the reasons that LED flashlights are superior to conventional models.

Flood beam – This feature allows for a wider beam to cover more area. Flood beam is great for navigating the fields at night and searching large areas quickly. This type of flashlight is ideal for rescue workers, fire fighters, professional electricians and other jobs that require the use of a reliable handy illumination. Classic flashlights only have one level of intensity when it comes to the brightness that it can yield. However,

Dimmable Light -   This feature makes the light much more versatile in varying environments and can help preserve your night vision.

Energy efficient - The LED bulb enables the flashlight to have a longer running time capability than ordinary flashlights. Because most LED flashlights are electronically regulated, it can still give a consistent and constant light output. This is the case for most LED flashlights even though the energy of the batteries inside is already dwindling.

Different power options - LED flashlights can run on disposable batteries or lithium batteries. Instead of the usual on and off switch, the cap of LED flashlight needs to be rotated or twisted. Through this technique, you may be able to adjust the brightness of the light. In this way, you use the dim feature of LED flashlight that was mentioned before.

Lower heat signature – LED bulbs give off markedly lower heat than an incandescent bulb. This is especially handy when working around flammable hazardous material.

Water resistant - Some models are specially made to function even if submerged in water.

Shock resistant – LED bulbs can withstand a much greater shock than standard light bulbs. Incandescent bulbs are relatively fragile and the filaments can be broken if the light is dropped on a hard surface.

It should be apparent the LED flashlight is superior to old incandescent model that has been with us for decades. If having reliable, portable light is critical to your work or even your survival, consider and LED flashlight.
