In a workshop environment there are always occasions where you are unable to see the area that you are working on properly and need an additional source of light in order to be able to work effectively.  While a standard lamp kit that hangs on the engine mounting can be useful in providing illumination across the top of an engine block, it can actually cause more problems than it solves in that it creates shadows down the sides of the unit, and makes it very difficult to see.
