Here is a guide for selecting the right filter cartridge for your respirator. Most manufacturers use a color coding system to help you identify the correct filter. Filters can also be used in combinations with each other. A particulate prefilter should always be used with an organic vapor filter.

Black Colored Filters – protect against organic vapors. These are generally found in solvent based lacquers and varnishes.

Green Colored Filters – Protect against ammonia gases produced by industrial cleaners.

Yellow Colored Filters  – Protect against acid gases found in acid based solvents and cleaners.
