Clean air in your air compressor system is essential fro the safe and efficient operation of this reliable power source. Harmful contaminants like lubricant, dust, dirt, rust , water and water vapor (either alone or in combination) can attack your air compressor and air tools. The results are increased maintenance, shorter tool and compressor life, and lowered system efficiency.

Protecting your air compressor system is an important part of preventative maintenance. Liquid and particulate contaminants, such as water, lubricant and dirt, are effectively removed from the air compressor system with high quality filtration equipment. Water and lubricant vapors are removed from the air compressor system with and air dryer.

There are several different weapons in your arsenal to protect your valuable air compressor and air tools:

1.    Aftercoolers – A simple rule of thumb is that for every 20Ë? compressed air is cooled, approximately 50% of the moisture content in the air is condensed. Aftercoolers bring discharge air temperature down from 200Ë? to 400Ë? F to within 20Ë? to 50Ë?F of the ambient temperature, causing the majority of the moisture to condense into liquid water and be removed. On average an aftercooler will remove approximately 60% of the moisture content of the air stream.

2.    Moisture Separators – Designed to trap and expel, automatically or manually, any oil or condensed moisture which appears in a compressed air system.

3.    Dryers – Similar to an aftercooler, a dryer removes moisture by reducing the air temperature. Using the same rule of thumb, the temperature reduction represents an average of an additional 30% of the moisture content of the air. This 30% is over and above the approximately 60% an aftercooler removes.

4.    Automatic Drain Valves – The ADV offers a maximum opening for reduced clogging. Its highly reliable timer can be set for precise customized opening frequency and length of time opening frequency and length of time open. The solenoid valve design (not float type) doesn’t need regular inspection. And a convenient pust-to-test button tells you instantly that the system is not clogged and working properly.

5.    Coalescing Filters – Filters are used to remove dirt and rust particles as well as liquid oil and water. Filters will not condense water vapor and do not replace dryers as a method of drying compressed air.
