Air Winch drum brake options
Before purchasing an Air Winch, it is important to understand the different models so that you choose the right model for your need. A main difference between air winch models in reference to Ingersoll Rand models are the drum brakes. There are two different air winch drum brake options to choose from when you are considering purchasing an Ingersoll Rand. One option is the manual drum brake, and the other option is an automatic drum brake. The manual drum brake is operated by using either a lever or a wheel, depending on the model, and it does its work by applying friction force between brake bands and the drum brake surface. On the other hand, the automatic drum brake on an Ingersoll Rand Air Winch is operated using a spring- loaded, air operated cylinder to engage and discharge the brake. When using either air winch model, make sure to tuck your shirt in, and don't place your hands or anything else near the machine's area of expertise. Also, if you notice any abnormal, strange noises or sounds coming from the air winch, assume there is something wrong with it and ask your supervisor.
