Used auto body parts are among the most purchased auto parts on the internet.  Most likely because, well, they are the first line of defense when it comes to your car.  Something as simple as a little dent can warrant the need for a whole new body panel, door or bumper.

When researching auto body parts online you should know that not all body panels are created equal.  For instance many of the aftermarket auto body panels such as lets say a quarter panel are not as thick as the factory OEM body panel.  Another thing to look at is the location of mounting holes.  For whatever reason, many aftermarket parts do not incorporate the correct mounting hole positions - if the mounting holes are even implemented at all!

Auto body parts can be hard to purchase online due to the fact that pictures don't tell the whole story.  The body panel could have been patched and/or repaired in the past.  With today's auto body fillers and putties - it's not always clear to see.

In conclusion, used used auto body parts can save an astronomical amount of money.  Depending on your auto body repair skills - you will have to judge if it is worth putting all the time, money and possible disappointment into the project.  On the other hand - you can come out with a major deal that opens up time and money.  I guess what's the real point it ask before you buy!
