One of the most demanding jobs that ever needs to be carried out on a vehicle is the repair or replacement of the transmission.  This is a task that is particularly tough when you are working with larger vehicles such as trucks when the transmission can weigh in excess of a ton and will need special tools in order to move it around.  A variety of different transmission jacks are available on the market to meet with different requirements, but in many cases, where the truck has a modern aerodynamic design, conventional transmission jacks don’t work, and you need a special low profile jack that can fit under the front of the truck such as the OTC 5019 low lift Transmission Jack, which is just eight and a quarter inches high when it is in its lowered position.
Of course, even with the largest vehicles on the road, you are still often highly restricted in terms of the amount of space that you have to work in, so the fact that the pump handle on the OTC 5019 low lift Transmission Jack can swivel around and allow you to have a great deal more space to raise and lower the jack and this will make it much easier to keep control of the jack when you are working.
The OTC 5019 low lift Transmission Jack is one of the best tools on the market for replacing the transmission on a truck.  It can handle a weight of up to 2,200 lb, and despite being able to raise the weight of a transmission to more than 3 feet off the ground, it is stable enough to allow the load to be moved around confidently without needing to worry that it will fall off.
When you are doing transmission work on a large vehicle, it is still absolutely essential that you are able to maintain full control over the positioning of the transmission so that it can be properly mounted against the engine and driveshaft.  Getting the attachment wrong could be catastrophic to the delicate internals of the engine, and result in very expensive repairs being required.  Thankfully, the OTC 5019 low lift Transmission Jack is easy to use, and gives you the ability to raise and lower the load with surprising accuracy, meaning that you are able to keep full control of your work as you are carrying it out, and prevent costly errors.
These days, there is a greater level of commonality between different heavy trucks, and the OTC 5019 low lift Transmission Jack takes this into account.  It includes a special mounting adapter (No 220492), which is designed to marry up perfectly with the popular Eaton Fuller Roadranger transmissions that are used on most large trucks.  This plate can be adjusted in a matter of a couple of seconds to ensure that it fits perfectly onto the transmission and allow for it to be married up properly with the engine.  The adapter can swivel around, and can be tilted by 20 degrees back, 15 degrees forwards, and 12 degrees either side for much greater flexibility.
The combination of strength and control coupled with the low level that it can be reduced to make the OTC 5019 low lift Transmission Jack the ideal tool for removing and re fitting transmission systems into a truck.  If you are carrying out a large amount of mechanical work on larger vehicles and have been struggling with being able to access the transmission and rear of the engine due to the fairings and other aerodynamic components of the truck, then this is the jack that you need, and is n essential piece of the puzzle for a workshop that needs the very best.
