Ingersoll Rand produces a range of different material handing equipment to meet the needs of different industries. From high performance lifting gear for the offshore oil industry through to compact a natural gas powered winch or hoist for smaller manufacturing plants the company has made its name through producing high quality, reliable tools that help engineers and industries around the world to get the best results in a wide range of different industries. One of the key ways in which Ingersoll Rand has achieved its dominance across such a wide range of industries is the way in which the company has used intensive development of each tool or piece of equipment that it produces in order to make it as well suited to a particular role as possible. By creating tools that are specialized to a particular environment, the company has been able to give much better levels of performance to their customers, and this in turn has given them a strong brand that people look to first when choosing equipment such as the natural gas powered winch. Running equipment as efficiently as possible is key to a streamlined organization, and Ingersoll Rand have recognized this and launched the first range of natural gas powered winches available from any major manufacturer. The direct power available from this source, which is much cleaner than kerosene, and gives better levels of efficiency than electricity allows much greater control over equipment, and through this, more power to lift and manipulate heavy loads. In order to provide the best possible levels of performance from the natural gas powered winch range, Ingersoll Rand have brought a number of refinements to their design. A Radial Piston Motor is a simple and low maintenance core to all operations, while the local throttle and manually controlled band brake ensure that the operator of each unit has full access to the lifting potential at all times. All units in the range come finished to the highest possible standards with a marine grade coating that will protect the winches in even the most challenging environments. The range of natural gas powered winches available from Ingersoll Rand covers all needs. From the BU7A-PR winch which is designed for lighter lifting jobs of up to 1,000lb, and which is suited to use in a standard material handling role, through to the immensely powerful FA5A-LMX1R, which is able to handle loads of as much as 10,000lb, the range has something to suit all potential uses. The FA2B unit combines the power to raise a load of 4,000lb with great speed, and can lift at a rate of 96 feet per minute, which makes it ideal for use in situations where a fast response time is essential. Of course there is a great deal more to a winch than the load it can move, and one of the advantages of natural gas powered winches is that they offer superior levels of torque in operation. This gives the operator much better control – especially when spotting a load, and ultimately makes the whole process of using the equipment much safer. One of the key areas that have been implemented into the design of the natural gas powered winch range from Ingersoll Rand is the control of the gas. In an environment where there is the potential for gas to come into contact with a flame our other heat source, it is essential that seals are maintained. Ingersoll Rand has created the “Gas Tight” system, which utilizes Viton lip seals throughout. These keep the gas in a closed loop system and prevent leakage and contamination of the local environment. The gas resistant seals are used in all critical locations throughout the units including the piston cover gaskets, the exhaust cover gasket, the Reverse Valve Poppet, and the auto disc brake on the FA2B and FA5A models where it is present. For maximum safety and protection, the Ingersoll Rand natural gas powered winches incorporate a special exhaust system to route any gas away from the work area. This system ensures that should venting of gas take place, it will be piped to a safe area for disposal and not contaminate the working area. |
