Ingersoll Rand is the company the produces the popular Titanium series impact wrench. They have a full line of these light weight and powerful air tools. The question, is the titanium worth the extra cost or just a plain jane 231C impact? They both can break a tough nut and take some pretty tough abuse in the auto shop. What makes the titanium so special? The main reason for the titanium is the make the air tool more lightweight and easier to handle. If your job is to constantly tighten lug nuts, picking a heavier impact will wear you out and slow down productivity in a busy automotive shop. The real weight advantage comes from the 1 inch drive impact wrench, these air tools can weigh more than 40 lbs and can be very difficult to move around. The Ingersoll Rand 2925 Titanium only weighs 11.8 lbs and still delivers 1450 ft/lbs of torque. Don’t mistake weight for power and torque. The Ingersoll Rand 2135 Titanium series air impact wrenches are equipped with a power management system that controls the amount of power the air tool puts out. It gives the operator control over the clockwise direction motion. It does not affect the counterclockwise direction power. (That is always at maximum power.) The power management system gives you more control over the force the impact puts out by allowing the mechanic to reduce the power the impact puts out by turning the selector switch counterclockwise. There are four positions indicated by increasingly larger hash marks (Power Setting Indicators) just above the selector switch. Once the desired setting is dialed in, the operator can then further reduce the power output  by using variable output trigger.
