The FA2B Air Winch is one of the latest “third generation” air winches from Ingersoll Rand, and is recognized as being one of the most powerful units on the market. The whole design concept behind the Ingersoll Rand FA2B Air Winch was to take the previous model, the FA2A, and to make refinements wherever possible in order to take something that was already good, and to make it much better. All aspects of the previous model were analyzed and a number of improvements were added to the design in order to give more power and efficiency without undermining any of the existing systems that made the previous version of this impressive air winch so popular.
The most notable change that has been added to the design of the Ingersoll Rand FA2B Air Winch is the new MP150 piston motor. This adds to the amount of power that is available to use, raising it to 16HP, and the redesigned oil free system that has been used for the motor means that there is a lower maintenance requirement for the unit meaning that you have to face less downtime for servicing.
In addition to the new motor on the Ingersoll Rand FA2B Air Winch, one of the other notable changes is an entirely redesigned gear box. This has been changed in order to improve the level of power delivery and control that is offered by the unit. The gearing system works well with the new motor in order to deliver greater efficiency in use, and is also more durable than the older version, which was already very reliable.
One of the main concerns with any lifting equipment is the level of control that is available, and with this in mind, improved braking systems have been added to the design of the Ingersoll Rand FA2B Air Winch. The new disc brakes on the winch offer a lower required release pressure of 25PSIG. This means much more smoothness in use, and additionally, the lower requirement for available air means that the brakes will still continue to function as expected when air supply is limited or borderline, providing you with greater levels of control and safety.
The FA2B Air Winch features a special self cleaning K5C2 control valve, which reduces the level of maintenance required for the tool considerably, and thus reduces the ongoing maintenance costs of the winch. Where possible, components have been replaced with stainless steel or polymers in order to increase their lifespan and reduce the impact of environmental issues on reliability.
The FA2B Air Winch features a marine grade powder coating that you can be confident in, and the whole unit has been designed to operate in the most difficult conditions and type approved by Diet Norske Veritas, for use in marine situations, such as the oil drilling environment, where efficiency and reliability under pressure are absolutely essential,.
The winch is also capable of providing high speed lifting capabilities, and this ranges between 79 and 122 feet per minute, allowing you to gain excellent control over any lifting needs. In use, the FA2B Air Winch requires 350 cfm of air in order to operate at the highest power bands possible.
The performance of the Ingersoll Rand FA2B Air Winch under most conditions is absolutely stunning. At a standard 90psi air inlet pressure, the winch is able to provide a lifting capacity of between 3,200 and 5,000 lb depending on the level of the drum that is being used. The stall rating of the unit is 6,800 lb, which is in excess of three tons. The pull rating of the FA2B Air Winch is similarly impressive, with a capacity of up to 5,000 lb in this field as well, meaning that you are getting a great all rounder.
