For the most effective means of cutting through metal, whether you are working with sheet metal, or box sections from part of a chassis, a saw will always be the best possible device for the job.  Power Saws are an excellent way of making a quick and accurate cut through a sheet of metal, and will ensure that you are able to get the job right first time.  There are two main types of power saw, electric and the air saw.

Although in the past electric saws have been considered as being more convenient thanks to their high speed blades and ease of use, in recent years, more and more mechanics are turning to air saws for a number of reasons.  Essentially, when you are cutting any material, the more power that you have access to, the easier the job will be to carry out.

With an electric saw, like the Milwaukee Sawzall you are restricted to a fairly limited amount of power, and this can make cutting hard work.  The other problem with an electric saw is that it will always be a fairly heavy item when in use.  Cordless saws have heavy batteries in addition to the weighty motors that are required to control the motion of the blade.

An Air saw works in a completely different way.  Air Saws connect directly to the compressed air supply in your workshop, and use this to power a piston attached to the blade.  An Air saw is able to deliver a much higher cutting rate than its electric counterpart thanks to the reduction in the number of moving parts in it.  It is lighter too, and easier to handle in order to get the best possible finish from your cutting.

There are many different reciprocating air saws available from Red Hill Supply.  With a choice of models available, you will be able to find the right air tool for your needs and budgets without needing to compromise on quality.  The most famous brands in air powered tools such as Ingersoll Rand and Chicago Pneumatic offer a wide selection of air saws.

A great choice that offers effective power is the Chicago Pneumatic CPT7901, which is available from around $130.  When connected to an air supply, this saw provides 10,000 cycles per minute allowing it to cut through sheet metal like butter, and allow you to get the job done really quickly.  The CPT7901 boasts a number of innovative features to make it easier in use including a rear facing exhaust to direct the expelled air away from the cutting area, and a special low vibration system to allow you to work for longer without getting tired. The Chicago Pneumatic air saw will cut through sheet metal of up to 16 gauge easily, as well as dealing with other materials including wood and fiberglass.

While the Chicago Pneumatic CPT7901 air saws are aimed firmly at people who want a flexible air tool, that is easy to use, and yet very effective, its big brother the CPT881 is a completely different proposition.  Although it is slightly more expensive than its counterpart at around $220, it is a much more heavy duty air saw than its sibling, and is one of the most effective cutting tools available.  It is able to cut through almost any material without any problems, and features an ergonomic rubber casing to make it easier to hold.

For hobbyists looking for an air saw at the budget end of the market which doesn’t mean a compromise on quality, the Mountain MTN7332 air saws are perfect.  Costing around $67 each, these lightweight tools will cut through a range of materials including aluminum, and it features a reciprocating blade that moves at up to 10,000 cycles per minute to ensure that even through it is a budget saw, it still offers all the power and control that you could need to get the job done.
